Buried Treasures

My plumber (who by this time is starting to feel like the painter guy from Murphy Brown!!) found some great old bottles yesterday... About 5 or 6 feet deep, it looks like a hole had been dug and trash dumped in it... There is 1/2 of what looks like an old shaving mug, pieces of a large crock, large pieces of an ironstone bowl that looks like it might have been part of a pitcher and bowl set, and the bottom half of a porcelain doll's face (a bit eerie, but cool anyway) I have the bottles on my counter in the kitchen, awaiting a good cleaning... I wonder how many years it has been since they have been in this house?
Probably before the current kitchen was even added on, judging by the looks of them... The first two rooms of my house were built in the late 1880's, the living room and my bedroom, the next three rooms added in 1915, the Son's room, the bathroom, and the diningroom which used to be the kitchen. The current kitchen was added in 1923.
One of the bottles is broken, but I saved it because molded into the glass it says "A. Trask's Magnetic Ointment"...LOL
I lived in this house as a kid, for about 5 years, and bought it from the people who bought it from my parents. The bottles are a neat link to some of the other people who lived in this house... I think these, and anything else we find interesting, will go into a small grouping as sort of a memorial to the people I share this space with.

Pretty cool, girl.
Excavated a couple of minor sink holes on my business property. Turned out to be bomb shelters from the 50s. Lots of old bottles and stuff in them. Not nearly as old, thus not as neat, as what you found - but a glimpse at another era was better than okay.

Wow, bomb shelters... that was like a whole 'nother planet, don't you think?

THe plumber was amazed that I was going to keep the bottles... His wife won't let that sort of stuff in the house, so things he finds that he keeps he puts out back in a shed... Thus basically re-burying them... I love old things... They have such a wonderful feel... I seem to pick up vibrations or something off of them... I love the connection to people of the past that have lived in this same space, too... that is why I am keeping them, as a memorial... Some of those spirits may still visit once in a while, ya never know... lol
